Quartz Crucible manufacturing method

Arc fusion

Quartz Crucible is manufactured by putting the raw material quartz powder into a mold, then melt and vitrify the quartz powder by heating at over 2,000℃ through arc discharge.
During the process, two layers are formed by managing the melting conditions from the arc discharge. These layers are the transparent layer on the inside, which mostly does not have bubbles, and the bubble layer on the outside, which includes many bubbles for raising heat retention.

High-purity Quartz Crucible manufacturing process

Filling with raw materials

Quartz powder, which is raw material, is filled into a mold.
In synthetic Quartz Crucible, the outside is filled with natural quartz powder, and the inside is filled with higher purity synthetic silica glass powder, forming a two-layer structure.
Because the natural quartz powder on the outside has a high viscosity at high temperatures, it contributes to the strengthening of the crucible.

Arc fusion

Through arc discharge, the quartz powder is melted by heat, and is vitrified.
On the inside, the impact of the single crystal silicon growth is minimized, which forms the transparent layer which mostly does not have bubbles.
On the outside, the bubble layer,
which increases heat resistance, is formed.

Processing

After arc fusion, the Quartz Crucible
is taken out of the mold, and the Quartz Crucible is rinsed by high-pressure water to remove the quartz powder on the outer surface.
After that, the rim of the crucible is cut at a height according to specifications, and further washed.

Inspection

The shape of the Quartz Crucible is measured, from its thickness, weight, to its outside diameter.
In addition, each product is visually inspected.

Acid cleaning

The internal and external surfaces are cleaned with acid.
After that, they are rinsed with pure water and dried,
and the opening is wrapped with an automatic device while they are kept clean in a cleanroom.
